About This Spot

Stepping into Flavio’s Restaurant feels like slipping into a cherished chapter of Apollo’s dining history. The moment you walk through the door, the rhythmic hum of softly piped-in music mingles with the gentle clinking of glasses and the warm murmur of fellow diners settling in for an evening that unfolds at a pleasant, unhurried pace. This isn’t a place that rushes you; instead, it invites you to soak in the relaxed ambiance, where cloth napkins and crisp tablecloths set a quietly elegant tone that feels both familiar and timeless.

Flavio’s embodies an old-school Italian-American charm that’s becoming rare in today’s dining landscape. The atmosphere is comfortable without being casual—a place where the servers' attentiveness balances seamless professionalism with genuine warmth. It’s easy to sense that every detail has been thoughtfully arranged to create a dining experience rooted in tradition yet welcoming to all who appreciate authentic flavors and heartfelt hospitality.

The menu here is a journey through classic Italian-American favorites, where the kitchen’s care shows in every plate—be it the softly yielding fettuccine bathed in a rich Alfredo sauce, or the tender veal draped in a Marsala reduction that carries both depth and subtlety. You won’t find over-seasoned or rushed dishes; instead, each bite feels like an invitation to savor time-honored recipes crafted with an honest, understated touch.

Flavio’s is about more than just the food. It’s about those human moments at the table—the quiet exchanges over freshly baked bread, the satisfied smiles after a perfectly executed dish, the easy conversations with a server who knows the menu as well as the regulars. It’s a place that honors the tradition of dining as a shared ritual, inviting you to reconnect with the pleasures of good food, warm service, and a welcoming setting in the heart of Apollo.

Although they are reservation only, my boyfriend was able to get a last minute reservation for Valentine's Day..and WOW. We were impressed. The fresh hot bread and the oysters were a great starter and their homemade fettuccine alfredo was to die for! Our waitress was so sweet as well. All around great experience.

My husband and I went here over the weekend, our waitress Devin was absolutely amazing! She was super friendly, helped with our questions, her energy was just great! The food was wonderful! Cant complain at all about that, we will be back!

Flavio’s is simply amazing and more so if you consider the rural context. Make no mistake this is Italian-American cuisine and that’s the point. Most such restaurants are long closed, morphed into Olive Garden-like quality, or merged with an Italian influence, which took hold in urban areas in the 90s. Flavio’s transports you to a pre-1970s authenticity. If you’re younger and traveled the world, your disdain for Italian-American food is understandable. And therefore if you’ve wondered what did my grandparents like about this cuisine, a visit to Flavio’s is the answer. Attention to the quality of ingredients is clear. The raw onions in the house salad are sweet. The wedding soup is on point. I’ve never had better oyster crackers. The creamed butter with just baked bread, perfect. The shrimp in the shrimp cocktail, superb. The homemade pasta, excellent. The veal Marsala, classic. But remember this is Apollo. A small, struggling town an hour outside of Pittsburgh. That’s what makes things more amazing. This was the first time I have eaten here since 1989. It has not skipped a beat. The waitress, on the job three weeks and her first waitressing job, was delightful, well represented her town, and obviously extremely well trained. If you live in this rural area it may seem pricey. But you must go at least once before you die. For the rest of us it’s a destination, captures a piece of culinary history, and well worth the trip. I won’t wait so long to return.

A true old school dining experience! Remember the days of table cloths, cloth napkins, utensils including spoons? All this wrapped in a clean environment with personable waitresses and piped in music. You’ll actually finish your salad before your dinner is served to you , what a lost tradition. The food isn’t salty or over seasoned, it’s served hot with a good portion at a fair price! They’re open on Sundays and you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed and unhurried manner, the way people used to expect when dining out.

Wonderful experience. Our family has been eating here for 30+ years. We had my grandparents 50th anniversary, our wedding rehearsal dinner, and every time we are in the area we take my parents here. If there was a place like this near where we lived, we would eat there 2x per month. Please note the photos were from October 22, 2022 (for menu prices, etc). The petite filet remains at 48 dollars for 8oz, cooked to perfection. The photos are of Veal Marsala, Chicken Marsala, Filet Mignon and Cheesecake. Try it, you will not be disappointed. You must call for a reservation, they can not accommodate walk-ins and be patient, it is a relaxed meal that is not rushed.

We had the BEST experience. I can't say enough good things about this wonderful old world restaurant. Our meals were tasty and perfect. The service was exemplary. Angela, our server, made a great suggestion of splitting the shrimp and crab pasta meal with my son because it is so huge. That was a great idea and I added a Caesar salad with it. All of the food was fresh and delicious. The pasta is homemade as were the delicious buttery croutons on my salad. The orange roughy is huge even my skeptical father was very impressed. The warm homemade bread is also amazing. We loved the decor saluting our local hometown soldiers. I am so happy that this place is still in business after all of these years. That speaks volumes! Don't be scared of the price range - their prices are in range with every other restaurant serving similar dishes including chains. Just be sure to look at your receipt as parties that are five or larger receive an automatic gratuity on their bill (these girls do a great job and definitely deserve the 20%). Note to the chef - looking forward to when you start making desserts again. I will be making another reservation very soon!

A real great experience. When making the reservation the owner, who took the call, was nice to inform me that they only had 2 servers and service might be slow. Service, food and hospitality were all spectacular.
